POKÉPOP - ON AO3

a very silly crack fic, where pokemon are replaced with cards of kpop idols, and the trainers can be anyone and anything!

here's the place for background information on POKÉPOP and an explanation on how this came to be. soon, a list of trainers and their backstories will appear! (the cards are done!)

poképop started when my friend kept sending me kpop idol memes, and i would remove all the consonants from the image to make something new.

here's the first one i've ever made, and the original beside it (the person is sunghoon, and im pretty sure the original is faked too):the image is a screenshot from an edited question-and-answer tiktok, which has been further compressed and has had the consonants removed. the question asks 'aeoua' and the answer is 'Aoue O' followed by exclamation marks and angry faces.
this is the version of the image with consonants, making the text readable. the question is 'are you gay?' and the answer is 'Absolutely NO!!!'.

this was, of course, the pinnacle of comedy, so even when we ran out of images of kpop idols with text to 'vowelise', i still edited images without text. i've always loved stretching the aspect ratio of images, and eventually settled on a standard image size: 199x256 pixels. similar enough to the 3:4 aspect ratio, and with easily-memorisable numbers.

some of the first edits of kpop idols without text:the kpop idol soul from p1harmony, zooming close to the camera. the picture is edited to give him small twinkles in his eyes.
the kpop idol jungwon from enhypen, taking a selfie. the picture is tinted blue and overlayed with sharp sparkles.
jeonghan from the kpop group seventeen, in a picture edited to be misalligned and overlayed with a colour gradient.

this has been an inside joke between me and my friend, with a few other people in real life knowing of it, but all these poképops are scattered across random messages, making it impossible to archive if i lost access to my storage. this is why this page exists.

why it's called poképopmultiple images with a common theme and format → reminiscent of card decks → pokémon cards
pokémon + k-pop → poképop

meet the poképops!

a shiny, colourful card of a person with a muzzle filter. a glitchy card of a person with long bangs. a card of a person with a fisheye lens effect making him look small and mouselike. a card displaying a person flanked with fireboy on the left and watergirl on the right.
the kpop idol jungwon from enhypen, taking a selfie. the picture is tinted blue and overlayed with sharp sparkles. a card of a person putting their hands to their lips, with pink-painted nails. a woman wearing accessories adorned with communist logos accompanied by a man behind her. a card bordered by sparkles with a person doing a peace sign in the centre. in the corner, you can see che guevara putting his hand to his hat. a card of a woman taking off her glasses to look at the camera.
this content contains 'kys' jokes
a card displaying a man saying 'kill yourself' a smiling person pointing to a shocked person, with the caption 'kys' on the bottom. a card displaying a woman staring into the camera with a neutral expression, with the text 'kys' in the top-left corner. a person with glitch effects and a red light coming from the left making them look scary. there is korean text on the bottom, but it is overlayed by the words 'translation: kys'.
