POKÉPOP
a very silly crack fic, where pokemon are replaced with cards of kpop idols, and the trainers can be anyone and anything!
backstory and bonus info
poképop started when my friend kept sending me kpop idol memes, and i would remove all the consonants from the image to make something new.
here's the first one i've ever made, and the original beside it (the person is sunghoon, and im pretty sure the original is faked too):

this was, of course, the pinnacle of comedy, so even when we ran out of images of kpop idols with text to 'vowelise', i still edited images without text. i've always loved stretching the aspect ratio of images, and eventually settled on a standard image size: 199x256 pixels. similar enough to the 3:4 aspect ratio, and with easily-memorisable numbers.
some of the first edits of kpop idols without text:

this has been an inside joke between me and my friend, with a few other people in real life knowing of it, but all these poképops are scattered across random messages, making it impossible to archive if i lost access to my storage. this is why this page exists.
why it's called poképop
multiple images with a common theme and format → reminiscent of card decks → pokémon cards
therefore:
pokémon + k-pop → poképop
meet the poképops!
bombgoo - beomgyu from tommorow x together

information: when in pokepop mode, his name is bombgoo. he can turn his opponent's blood into orange juice, causing them to need immediate medical attention and losing the battle. before he was reincarnated as a pokepop, he was a beauty influencer/youtuber, but he lost popularity after releasing a beauty product that turned people's blood into orange juice (accidentally). he is the only legendary card.
communist choerry ft. che guevara - choerry from artms

information: a communist (friends with the man behind her, che guevara) who employs techniques like mutual aid and voter organisation to make sure her future opponents get a job they like more than poképop-ing, so she never has to actually fight anyone. therefore: 100% win rate. technically, her power is temporal omnipotence. she could know how every moment in the past and present will affect the future when she's higher levelled, but right now she's only good at predicting events related to her opponent's careers and how to change them. her rarity is either uncommon (because she's part of a series) or rare (because the series only has two people) depending on who you ask.
communist vahn ft. che guevara - vahn from NINE.i

information: he sings it's everyday bro to mentally damage his opponents, and pretends to be really bad at geography to frustrate them until they give up fighting him bc he seems so dumb. he's usually spotted walking down the street, usually with his best friend, che guevara. his rarity is the same as communist choerry, in that he's either rare or uncommon, depending on who you ask.
jeonghan (original) - jeonghan from seventeen

information: he stares ominously at you and says nothing. no one has seen this card in the wild, only through screens. some people believe this pokepop is asking for help, some believe that he doesn't exist! but sometimes, late at night, you might think you see him on a screen… he will always disappear before you can document it, though. his rarity is equivalent to a first-edition version of an uncommon card.
faded jungwon - jungwon from enhypen

information: he's just there, no one knows how he became a poképop, he sorta just appeared. ppl are too intimidated to battle him so we dont know his power. he is a rare card.
kys chuuves - chuu and yves - former loona members

information: another variant of the violent poképop, it’s thought that the two were walking down the street doing their usual millionaire lesbian couple things when a raging homophobe came and hate crimed them! (he turned them into poképops), don't worry though, chuuves were able to take action (using the money bbc never paid them with in real life with) by making the guys life living hell 🥰🥰 these girlbosses are rated uncommon!
kys heejin - heejin from artms

information: another one of the uncommon violent poképops… jeonghan’s sister. she came into existence after jeonghan became a poképop. her origins are even more of a mystery...
kys jeonghan - jeonghan from seventeen

information: he's a violent poképop, if you’re within a 5 mile radius of him, he will tell you to kill yourself. no one knows how he became a poképop either. people suspect he was doxxed on 4chan because of his demeanour. he is an uncommon pokepop.
kys seungeon - seungeon from evvne

information: probably came from some sort of weird facility and is wanted by the police. is a part of the kys series but is not very meta.
nerd giselle - giselle from aespa

information: a rare pokepop, she's the most educated of the origins of poképop and knows the most about the powers, abilities, weaknesses, and defenses about various cards. poképops usually come to her for help and advice but only those who can pay the hefty fee can get the most knowledge out of her...
ricky Slay! - ricky from zerobaseone

information: he uses his slay rizz demeanour to manipulate opponents before shooting them with a 'Slay' beam that comes from his eyes. he was a young, tall, handsome, and rich billionaire in the past until he was turned into a poképop in a coolmathgames lab he was playing around in, which merged him with fireboy and watergirl. his appearance suggests that his beam powers come from fireboy and watergirl. he is a rare card.
mouseboy - shota from p1harmony

information: he can store things in his mouse pocket dimension, but it's mostly just his favourite foods (examples include kimchi stew, sushi, and mcdonalds). he stores things that his opponents love and makes them give up the battle in order to get them back. he was an alien in his past life but now he's (sorta) a rare mouse poképop.
woobin from cravity

information: to be honest, this is a common pokepop who probably won't play a major part in the story.
if this is updated, a list of trainers and their backstories will appear! (the cards are done!)
