the pale has no colour

image description: a loose and messy digital painting of an ocean from a bird's-eye view. as you look to the top of the painting, the ocean froths into a grey smoke, before leading into a white-and-grey checkerboard pattern. this pattern is how many digital programs show that an image is transparent. end image description.

comment: one day i thought 'if the pale is nothing, then how would a picture of it look?'. then the concept of it just showing up as transparent came to me. the pale goes beyond colour in its pursuit of nothingness- to the fourth colour channel after red, green, and blue: alpha transparency.
