• rework the parts of the site that are still reliant on goblin-heart's layout maker, because the code i wrote isn't very good.
• give the art gallery 2023 images thumbnails (regenerate the entire gallery in general)
• make/finish shrines/oc pages (see sitemap/shrine index for ideas)
• add some sudan stuff?
• add trainers to the poképop page
• accessibility: make more things keyboard interactive (i tested details/summary tags and they're fine, but more things need to be fixed).
• refine sitemap

very long term goals that may not be possible:

• add a dark mode and a high contrast mode sitewide
• become accessible enough to be featured in the accessible net directory (something i am always working towards but relatively difficult for amateur me who codes on the weekends occasionally)

• join the neocreatives webring (i need to make my art gallery more presentable first)

i have no good explanation for why i was just Gone for a few months other than 'my daily priorities changed', hopefully i'm back now haha

i don't know if anyone was concerned by this, but just to clarify: i have been drawing this whole time! i just want a more sustainable storage solution for uploading my art, so that's why there haven't been updates to the art gallery!

the half•alive shrine is UP!!! incomplete, but UP!!! i'm really proud of how my coding skills have improved, i did some cool css animation in the page, learned how svgs work, etc. i need to start making my coding projects into school assignments more often because i'm getting a lot done- or i should just bite the bullet and actually sign up for a computer science course...

the crane wives shrine page has been released! there are some things i want to do (add a music player, add links to where you can support the crane wives) but that can be done later!

i also fixed the issue of other pages on the site saying that the guestbook is still broken - they now link to the atabook guestbook instead of showing my OC panicking! i've managed to figure out how vite works, and with vite i've been going on a bugfixing spree i could never afford to do before.

i updated the button page because one of the people on it moved to nekoweb. i have cool shrines that i've been working on, they're mostly done in terms of code but are lackluster regarding actual writing. so when i'm done with that (before january 10th) they'll be released!

oh, also, merry christmas! i don't celebrate it so this is mostly for the people who do. happy holidays! i spent christmas watching smosh compilations.

i finished the new home page many weeks ago, but was scared to replace the old one for some reason... well, i randomly found the resolve to change it last night when i was about to sleep, so that's why you're reading this update today!

my momentum for developing the site has been lost because of the hiatus, but i still really love it. i hope that i'll continue to update it in the future, but i'll probably pivot to the more 'creative' parts of the site instead of working on more rewrites of the old code. the idea of reworking the art gallery is very daunting right now...

ONE YEAR ON NEOCITIES!?

making a website has been a way for me to make a home away from home, if you'll excuse the phrase. it makes me feel stable, because no matter where i am or what i'm doing, it's always been online as a record of who i am and what i've done. i can't wait to spend another year finding sites, signing their guestbooks, and connecting with people all around the world- once my pc is released from the dimensions of the shipping container...

i have a new icon!!! i didn't like my old one.

i don't have access to my computer because it's being shipped to the aforementioned unnamed country, which is why the updates are going to be less frequent. i failed to elaborate in my last update, so i will here:

why is the neocities editor like this??? i can't even use the back arrows without deleting two whole lines, so if i make a typo i have to use backspace and rewrite whole sentences, or click to where i want to edit which kills my flow. while i was writing the last sentence the closing paragraph tag disappeared. i have to write everything sequentially or stuff like that happens. that's not that big of a deal, but why are the control buttons so close together? i'm glad that i at least have the option to undo mistakes (that the neocities editor made - not me) but having the paste and undo buttons literally 5 pixels apart on a touchscreen device which is controlled by my clumsy fingertips and not the focus of a mouse is- i don't even remember what i was going to say, i'm just mad. rant over. to new beginnings! wow new country! new me! *i raise my non-alcholic kid-appropriate beverage and bring it towards me to drink. i spill half of it on my shirt. i bow. i leave*

i got the neocities cli working, this is just a test. also may not be updating the site for a while/the updates will be less frequent because i'm going to be focusing on artfight and i'm moving to another country in august. what country? you'll know when i get there LOL.

because i don't want a purely back-end + life update without any new 'content' on the site (i define content very loosely, see the update right below) i added a table of contents to the fonts shrine to make it easier to navigate!

once i accidentally replaced all semicolons with a width: 100% command and it has affected the poor about me page again. i fixed it! also tried to alleviate image loading on the hermitcraft shrine.

css stuff on the log page (these divs that contain the updates used to be styled inline every time, it was annoying) and css stuff on the hermitcraft shrine (padding, the font's word spacing was too small so i improved it for readability, fixed some grammar errors), updated oh hellos shrine (it looks cooler and there's more words)

the two previous logs seem to be out of order. just confirming that music player is a bust. i added more buttons and fixed the buttons box so it has a scrollbar. im going to update the oh hellos shrine because i definitely bit off more than i could chew - but that's still in the works.

hermitcraft shrine tweaks (minor formatting changes like changing the scrollbar colour, centering some elements, an attempt at mobile support). i only managed to add the part of the shrine about the background images. maybe if image descriptions are so time-consuming i should stop posting images at all. that's all what's there for now

hermitcraft shrine up! it took 3 hours to make the background change between different season 9 builds when you refresh. it's not very complete, literally all the content you can see is the content available. i will fix that at some point

a series of messages on the neocities website that i have wrote.
the first one says "using exactly 10% of my allocated space right now".
the second one says "all the art images have broke?" edited to include parenthesis which say "i just fixed them by moving some folders around". this second message has replies sent over the span of around 10 minutes, saying "all the images are still there but the redirecting links are wrong, this will take a second to fix, it's not that bad", "i wonder why that happened. i wonder how long it's been like that. wow." and "it broke again?"
at this point, a third message has been sent, explaining "when the art page was broken all the art links were directing to art/image/randomname.png, but the image folder was in the gallery (html files) folder. now all the links are directing to art/gallery/image/randomname.png, but since i moved the image folder out of the gallery folder, they broke again. I DIDN'T CHANGE THE HTML FILES, THEY DID THAT ON THEIR OWN. WHAT IS HAPPENING.". there are four replies to this message, once again over the span of 10 minutes, saying "THE HTML FILES HAVE DUPLICATED", "i am moving the folders back. i am deleting the duplicates. i am wondering what i did", ":D yay, back to norma- THE STYLE SHEET BROKE AGAIN", "BECAUSE I MOVED THE STYLE SHEET. DUE TO THE DUPLICATES WHICH I THOUGHT WERE THE ORIGINALS. HAHA".
the saga concludes with the final message: "after 20 minutes of a hell of my own making, my allocated space is no longer 10%. it is 9.9%. because of the duplicate images (sic). i will remedy this by taking a picture of my descent and enshrining it into my update log." "

added a button, it's a cool site check it out. also fixed a link in my playlist! final expense would throw an error and not play, but when i actually clicked the link it would go to lovejoy. it doesn't do that anymore!

i am planning on actually making the hermitcraft shrine, but it's all tangled up in my head right now and it might take me a while for me to detangle it into tangible code and art assets and writing haha, i have exams soon so might take a while.

added picrews to my about me page because trying to draw myself is frustrating. i hope the picrews i've made over months portray a more detailed picture. and a new button hehe. and i also fixed the artfight link since that was apparently broken. good thing i caught that before artfight happened!

added that doll of my sona next to the guestbook! it's a bit small but i needed to account for the mobile layout.

removed all mentions of lovejoy on the site i could find- other than one art piece i'll keep up because my art page is glued together with duct tape. the sbi shrine is not going to happen after all, i've replaced those plans with a memorial to technoblade, which i believe will work better. i will not elaborate why i'm removing all the lovejoy content, as i believe i cannot explain it well enough.

while taking a step back and looking at my future plans for the site, i realised that the fanfic reccomendations idea, although something i could still do, just won't work with the way i was intending to implement it. it will become a place where i highlight specific fanfic authors/series/works instead of a place where i attempt to document every fanfic i've enjoyed. the latter idea would've been too tedious to make in reality.

the playlist has been changed: removed lovejoy and added more songs from other bands already featured. also added some songs from the hades and disco elysium soundtracks.

the poképop page is going to be dormant for a while longer as one of the main characters is now not someone i'm comfortable putting in the story. the woes of fanfiction: your characters are not beholden to you.

oops, i disappeared for 4 weeks! i was just having issues with the half•alive and oh hellos shrines and just quit for a bit, i also need to focus on schoolwork so this is not really a comeback, it's just a 'don't worry i'm still going to be doing this'. for now have an art update lol, i'm gonna start posting oc art in 2024 to my site for now, but it may disappear from the site if i have storage issues (my main concern for this site right now, as i don't have an image hoster at the moment i can use)

2022 gets its own fancy mega page and every year before that is so poorly archived that the only art that i have is either stuff i was forced to make for class or gacha life edits- among other things which will never see the light of day :) with the 2022 page i have employed a technique where i use low res thumbnails to the relief of RAM sticks everywhere! i also changed the page buttons naming convention for clarity as 2024 is right around the corner! this took me the whole day. thank you tantacrul for giving me stimulation while i did this frankly tedious work, as well as the bands listed in my about me page.

did a LOT of pokepop stuff, at least, it feels like it. had to mess around with a lot of javascript for 2 days before giving up. you're also getting a css update to sitemap as a treat (mostly so i can feel more better on spending 2 days on trying to fix bugs that didnt exist and giving up lmao) (planning on special site look for fonts)

we have a lot to get through, so i'll make this quick via bullet-point form:

• added a page where i talk about fonts!
• added a sitemap!
• changed the url of the art gallery and pokepop pages for clarity!
• added a link to the pokepop page to the art gallery so it's easier to find!
• added a link to the sitemap to the sidebar and a link to the fonts page to the shrine directory!
• removed the link to my font list (i might re-add it to the fonts page!)
• i fixed the buttons on the art pages!

  this was a puzzle that had a surprisingly simple solution, i just had to change the display property from inline-block to inline. all that headscratching for deleting 12 characters in total LMAO

i am working on more stuff, so expect more frequent updates to the site!

updated the art pages to fix the links on the top (intended to be buttons) and made the column widths more uniform, i might reorganise the images so the gallery height is more uniform but that is very low priority. however, fixing the image loading is further up on that list.

oh also! a very unserious fic me and my friend are working on has an incomplete page here! any ethical issues within are accidental and made from well-meaning ignorance.

wowie new month! the constellation decor worked out fine in the end. other than that, i've also added extra links to the oh hellos shrine so you can see some ways to support them :D

i will start working on writing about my experiences and feelings with their music! keep in mind i am a big dumb dumb and my interpretations may change as i grow et cetera. the analysis will be gradual, because...

i changed my mind about putting all my characters with links to their own pages. instead, having one image of all of them that links to the character tab on toyhouse makes it so that when i'm done with a character's page, it becomes visible, which makes it easier to see which character pages are complete and which aren't. also i hate having to organise images with css. and i don't have complete illustrations for all of them.

i hope what i just wrote was legible. basically, click the image of the characters on the front page, go to toyhouse, if a character page is complete it will show up on the list. 0 available right now.

characters with links to their toyhouse pages are on the front page, but you can't access the pages yet, i know. the first character (celeste) looks super short but i do not have time to fix it today, i have the opportunity to sleep early so i will take it.

once i'm done with the toyhouse pages, you can actually see them beyond the images!

i realised that im not using the log properly. while i haven't updated here, the art page is up- excluding oc art because i'll put that on toyhouse for organizational purposes. the shrine directory is there, so you'll be able to see what i'm going to talk about /('o' )\
i'm going to start working on at least one shrine today, but it's likely not going to be finished, because i'm planning on custom layouts and themes for each one, it'll be super epic :D

i have to do alt text and descriptions for all the stuff in the art gallery, i am sad at the prospect of more work because that means that this will take longer than i thought. at least i only put art from this year to make it easier for myself. expect some pencil sketches thrown in there for variety, however no oc art, because that is for when i set up my toyhouse!

finished the about me and update log pages!!! still not wrapping my head around how this site is finally coming together. i'm not gonna go around promoting it yet until i finish the guestbook and art/shrines pages (not to mention the character pages, i am EXCITED for that) but still! pretty cool!!!

i'm going to have to slow down on updating this website as school is starting, but i feel like the foundation has been layed down at this point. it's only a matter of time, you know?
